Guidelines

The Comcast Cable Channel 26 television production equipment and facility are provided free of charge. Because of this, there are some guidelines placed on equipment usage and types of programming produced.

The guidelines are:

1. The content and subsequent use of the programming may not promote a profit-making product, service or trade.

2. Producers and those working as crew must volunteer their time. It is inappropriate to conduct a small video production business using the free video production facility provided exclusively for non-commercial community programming.

3. Producers may obtain funding from grants or sponsorship donations to help cover the cost of producing the project. Funding or sponsorship donations should only be used to cover expenses associated with the production, i.e. tape stock and food for crew. Funding should not be used to supplement income.  After obtaining a sponsor, please be sure to adhere to the following guidelines in how to credit them.

PLEASE CREDIT YOUR SPONSORS AT THE END OF THE PROGRAM AS FOLLOWS: Thank you very much to following individuals and/or organizations for your sponsorship: (list sponsors)

PLEASE NOTE: You cannot provide the sponsor’s logo, address or phone number. "For more info" numbers must not be for places of business. Web sites must not have commercial content on the program's web page.

4. The programming content may not contain advertising or solicitation of funds.

5. The programming may not be sold or rented, nor may a fee be charged specifically for the viewing of the programming.

6. The content of the programming cannot be obscene or otherwise unprotected by the Constitution of the United States. See Miller v. California, 413 U.S. 15 (1973). Obscenity is not constitutionally protected. Additionally, speech which is directed to inciting or producing imminent lawless action and is likely to incite or produce such lawless action is not constitutionally protected.
See Brandenberg v. Ohio, 395 U.S. 444 (1969).
